Summarize with AI

A product recommendation quiz asks a shopper a few questions and recommends products from the answers. On Shopify it takes an app. RevenueHunt, Lantern, VQB and Jebbit have a free plan on a live store, Quiz Kit and Quizell are free only on development stores, and Octane AI starts at $50 a month.

A shopper reads three serum pages, can't tell which one suits dry skin, and closes the tab. The apps below let you build a quiz for that shopper, and they don't all bill by the same count. Prices are as of November 2026.

At a glance

What are the best product recommendation quiz apps for Shopify?

Each of these quiz builders fits a different store, so start from your problem.

  • You want to try a quiz before paying for one. RevenueHunt, free to 100 finished quizzes a month.
  • Your quiz traffic jumps in a sale and drops after. Lantern, free to 50 quiz takers, then priced by takers each billing cycle.
  • A busy week can't be allowed to switch the quiz off. Octane AI, from $50 a month.
  • Your shoppers need a routine, not one product. Quiz Kit, from $59 a month.
  • Shoppers ask questions the quiz doesn't cover. VQB, a quiz and a shopping chat from $30 a month.
  • You sell a small catalog and need one quiz. Quizell, from $15 a month.
  • Your quiz runs inside email and ad campaigns. Jebbit, free for 500 engagements in total, then from $49 a month.

Then check what each one counts, and what happens past its limit.

Free, and what counts

What does each quiz app count as use?

The listing said "Free plan available", and the install asked you to pick a paid plan anyway. On Quiz Kit and Quizell, that free card is for development stores, the test stores made from a Shopify Partner account.

The bigger difference is what each app counts. RevenueHunt counts a shopper who reaches the results page. Lantern counts anyone who answers one question. Octane AI, Quiz Kit and Quizell count a start, so a shopper who leaves after one click still uses your plan.

Say 400 shoppers start your quiz in a month and 250 reach the results. RevenueHunt counts 250, inside the 500 on its Basic plan. Octane AI counts 400 starts against the 400 credits on its Basic plan, and any AI feature in the quiz uses a little more, billed at the end of the cycle.

Past the limit, RevenueHunt locks the quiz at 125% of the plan, Octane AI sends a bigger bill, and Quiz Kit moves you up a tier that a quiet month doesn't undo on its own.

1 · RevenueHunt

RevenueHunt: can you run a quiz for free?

The RH: Product Quiz Builder listing on the Shopify App Store by RevenueHunt, with a free plan, its summary, an intro video and screenshots of a product quiz.
RevenueHunt's quiz app now lists as RH: Product Quiz Builder.

You want to see whether a quiz sells before you pay for one. RevenueHunt's free plan runs as many quizzes as you like, up to 100 finished quizzes a month.

A quiz counts only when the shopper reaches the results page, so a visitor who quits halfway costs nothing. Answers reach your Shopify customer list on the free plan. That plan sends no results emails and doesn't connect to Klaviyo or your analytics tags. Basic costs $39 a month for 500 finished quizzes.

Past the limit, RevenueHunt asks you to upgrade. At 125% of the plan, your quizzes lock and shoppers see "This quiz isn't accepting new responses" until your count over the last 30 days falls back under the limit.

Best for: a first quiz on a small store.

2 · Lantern

Lantern: what if your quiz traffic swings?

The Lantern Product Quiz Builder listing on the Shopify App Store, with a free plan, its summary, an intro video and screenshots of the quiz builder and its sales reports.
Lantern Product Quiz Builder, made by App Attic.

Your quiz is busy in a sale and quiet the month after. Lantern prices by quiz takers, and it moves your plan up or down to match each billing cycle.

A quiz taker is someone who answered at least one question, not someone who only opened the quiz. Lantern's pricing page and help center put the free plan at 50 quiz takers a month, with every feature. Paid tiers start at $39 for 500 and reach $399 for 10,000, or $499 for unlimited.

You can build or edit a quiz by chatting with an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude. Linking a collection to an answer brings in up to 250 of its products, and the quiz matches each one as a whole product, not by size or color.

On the free plan, past 50 takers the quiz stops for the rest of that billing period unless you move to a paid plan.

Best for: quiz traffic that swings month to month.

3 · Octane AI

Octane AI: what happens when a busy month runs past your plan?

Octane AI's Advanced Quiz Maker listing on the Shopify App Store, with its summary and a gallery of quiz screens.
Octane AI opens each plan with a 14-day free trial.

A sale doubles your quiz traffic, and you'd rather pay for the extra than see the quiz switch off. Octane AI keeps the quiz running past your credits and bills the extra at the end of the billing cycle.

One credit is one quiz start, charged when a shopper begins. Basic includes 400 credits a month for $50. Building the quiz with AI uses no credits, while AI features inside the quiz use a little more each time. Unused credits roll over for 30 days, and yearly billing saves 15%.

Octane AI can bill you separately from your Shopify invoice, so watch both. For how it builds the quiz for you, see Shopify AI tools, compared.

Best for: a busy store that would rather pay for extra use than see the quiz stop.

4 · Quiz Kit

Quiz Kit: which quiz builds a skincare routine?

The Quiz Kit: Product Quiz Maker listing on the Shopify App Store by Presidio, with its summary and a gallery showing a baby formula quiz, a sales chat and the recommended bundle.
Quiz Kit: Product Quiz Maker, from Presidio.

Your shoppers need a set of products that work together, such as a cleanser, a serum and a cream. Quiz Kit builds routine quizzes like that, starting from a template, and an AI feature writes the results page.

Quiz Kit is free only on development stores. Live stores start at $59 a month for up to 500 engagements. An engagement is a shopper's first click to start the quiz in a visit, and each AI results page counts as one more.

Pass 500 and your plan moves up a tier on its own. A quiet month leaves you there until you ask support to move you down.

Best for: routine quizzes such as skincare.

5 · VQB

VQB: can one app run a quiz and a shopping chat?

The VQB: AI Product Quiz Builder listing on the Shopify App Store, with a free plan, its summary, an intro video and screenshots of the quiz builder.
VQB: AI Product Quiz Builder pairs its quiz with an AI Shopping Assistant.

Some shoppers have a question the quiz never asks. VQB pairs a quiz with an AI shopping chat that pops up on your store, on the same plan.

Its free plan runs one quiz of up to five questions, for 50 sessions a month. Convert, at $30 a month, adds unlimited quizzes with 500 quiz sessions and 100 chat sessions. Past those, it charges $0.08 for each extra quiz session and $0.15 for each extra chat session.

For what a chat on your store can do, read what conversational commerce is.

Best for: a quiz and a shopping chat on one bill.

6 · Quizell

Quizell: what does one quiz cost on a small catalog?

The Quizell AI: Product Quiz Maker listing on the Shopify App Store, with its summary, an intro video of a quiz and screenshots of the quiz builder and its recommendations.
Quizell's listing reads "Free plan available" under Pricing.

You sell a few dozen products and want one quiz, not a suite. Quizell's Lite plan runs one quiz with unlimited questions for $15 a month.

The free plan on Quizell's listing is for development stores only. Lite covers 500 engagements a month and up to 250 products, by Quizell's own pricing page. An engagement is each time someone starts your quiz. The Plus plan, at $49, allows four quizzes, 4,000 engagements and 1,000 products.

At the limit, Quizell asks you to upgrade and may pause your quizzes until you do.

Best for: one quiz on a small catalog.

7 · Jebbit

Jebbit: which quiz app fits campaigns run from HubSpot or Marketo?

The Jebbit: Quizzes That Convert listing on the Shopify App Store by BlueConic, with a free plan, its summary and screenshots of a clothing style quiz on three phones.
Jebbit: Quizzes That Convert, made by BlueConic.

Your quiz lives in a launch email or an ad, and the answers belong in your marketing system. Jebbit, from BlueConic, connects quizzes to Klaviyo and Attentive on every plan, and to HubSpot and Marketo on Essentials.

The free plan holds 500 engagements in total, not 500 a month. Starter costs $49 a month for 200 engagements, and Essentials $249 for 1,500.

The listing doesn't say what counts as an engagement or what happens past the limit, so ask Jebbit before you launch a campaign.

Best for: campaign quizzes with HubSpot or Marketo.

Build it

How do you make a product recommendation quiz?

Start from the results. List the products you want the quiz to recommend, then write the few questions that tell them apart, the ones a good shop assistant would ask. Ask about the need, such as skin type, roast or dog size, never the product name.

Link each answer to the products that fit, using whole collections where the app allows it. Then take every path yourself on a phone, and check each one ends on a product in stock.

Give the quiz its own page and a place in your menu, as well as any pop-up. If you ask for an email, let shoppers skip it and still see their results.

Shopify's own Forms app can't branch like this, because it supports neither multi-step forms nor conditional logic.

Inside other apps

Which apps run a quiz inside a bigger tool?

Okendo sells quizzes beside its reviews, loyalty, referrals and surveys, under one listing. Doofinder lists a quiz maker in the plans of its search app.

Okendo's reviews and loyalty are compared in eight Okendo alternatives, and Doofinder's plans, quiz maker included, in seven Shopify search apps.

Where to start

Which quiz app should you start with?

Pick the count you can live with. If you want to see whether shoppers finish a quiz before you pay, start on a free plan that counts finished quizzes or quiz takers, so a shopper who only opens the quiz costs you nothing. If a sale could triple your traffic, pick the app whose answer to a busy week you prefer: a lock, a bigger bill or a higher tier.

After you install one, check its charge under Settings, then Billing, in your Shopify admin.

What is the best product recommendation quiz app for Shopify?

It depends on the job. RevenueHunt is free to 100 finished quizzes a month, Lantern prices by quiz takers each billing cycle, and Octane AI keeps a quiz running past its credits. Quiz Kit builds routine quizzes, VQB adds a shopping chat, Quizell starts at $15 for one quiz, and Jebbit connects to HubSpot and Marketo on its $249 plan.

Is there a free product quiz app for Shopify?

Yes, with a cap. Each month, RevenueHunt is free to 100 finished quizzes, Lantern to 50 quiz takers, and VQB to 50 sessions on one quiz of up to five questions. Jebbit's free plan holds 500 engagements in total, not per month. Quiz Kit and Quizell are free only on development stores, and Octane AI has a 14-day free trial.

How do you make a product recommendation quiz on Shopify?

Install a quiz app and list the products you want it to recommend. Write the few questions that tell them apart, such as skin type or roast. Link each answer to the products it fits, take every path on a phone, and check each ends on a product in stock. Then give the quiz its own menu link.

Can you build a product quiz in Shopify without an app?

Not with Shopify's own tools. Shopify Forms caps a store at 25 forms and supports neither multi-step forms nor conditional logic, so it can't send a shopper to a different next question or product. A quiz app adds both, and every app on this list has a free plan or a free trial.

Can a Shopify app recommend products without a quiz?

Yes. Recommendation apps show rows such as frequently bought together on product and cart pages, without asking the shopper anything. Sledge, a Shopify search and filter app, has 13 kinds of recommendation row, such as Frequently Bought and Recently Viewed, from $29.99 a month, and no quiz. Compare product recommendation apps.

Your quiz picks the product. See what the rest of your store could add.

Sledge has no quiz. It runs your search, filters and recommendation rows. Growth Intelligence turns on when you pick a paid plan: it reads your orders and searches, lists fixes, and shows what they could be worth as one dollar total labeled “Est. potential”.
