The best Shopify theme depends on your store. Prestige suits high-end brands, Impulse fashion stores that run frequent sales, Warehouse and Expanse big catalogs, Motion video, Be Yours beauty and Impact bold brands. Symmetry gives one theme many looks, and Enterprise builds sales tools in. The nine paid themes cost $320 to $500, paid once. Horizon is free.

You've run a free theme for a year, and a $400 one looks sharper in its demo. But the demo uses the developer's photos, the sale is final, and each list you read calls its pick fast. Here are ten themes with the Theme Store's own prices and two counts of real store speed.

How we picked: every theme here is on the Shopify Theme Store today. Each runs on at least 2,800 live sites in Chrome's September 2026 phone data, as Theme Vitals counts them. For seven free themes compared, see the best free Shopify themes.

Impulse is $500 from Archetype Themes, with four presets. Its feature list carries promo tiles, promo popups, a countdown timer, an age verifier and image hotspots, but not pre-order. Selling clothes? See the best Shopify themes for clothing.

Your brand is loud, and a minimal theme makes it look like everyone else. Impact is built bold, with gradients and big headings, for the entertainment and audio brands its developer names.

Like Prestige, Impact is $400 from Maestrooo, with three presets. Its developer lists more than 35 sections, quick buy on collection pages, a sticky add-to-cart button and complementary products. Its feature list adds pre-order and quantity pricing.

Best for: bold brands, audio and entertainment.

5. Warehouse: for big catalogs

Warehouse on the Shopify Theme Store, $320, with a preview of its demo store.

Maestrooo sells Warehouse for $320, with three presets. Its feature list includes quantity pricing and gift wrapping, but no countdown timer or promo popups.

Best for: big catalogs, electronics and parts.

6. Enterprise: sales tools in the theme

Enterprise on the Shopify Theme Store, $420, with a preview of its demo store.

You keep adding an app for each popup, message and sticky button. Enterprise builds them in: its developer lists flash messages, a sticky add-to-cart button and popups set page by page.

Enterprise is $420 from Clean Canvas, Symmetry's developer, with three presets. Its feature list has a back-in-stock alert, pre-order, infinite scroll and a back-to-top button.

Best for: sales tools built into the theme.

7. Be Yours: for beauty and skincare

Be Yours on the Shopify Theme Store, $350, with a preview of its demo store.

A serum needs ingredients and steps on the page, and a plain product page has nowhere to put them. Be Yours is built for skincare, fragrance and beauty, with the ingredient tabs, ritual steps and scent notes its developer lists.

RoarTheme sells Be Yours for $350, with four presets. Product tabs, a before-and-after image slider, gift wrapping and pre-order are on its feature list.

Best for: skincare, fragrance and beauty.

8. Expanse: for a deep catalog with many promos

Expanse on the Shopify Theme Store, $420, with a preview of its demo store.

Your catalog is deep, and your current offer needs a place on every page. Expanse makes room for promotions on the homepage, in collection banners, on the product page and in the footer, its developer says.

Expanse is $420 from Archetype Themes, with five presets. Its developer also lists a cart upsell and a multi-category sidebar filter.

Best for: a large inventory with promotions everywhere.

9. Motion: for brands that sell with animation and video

Motion on the Shopify Theme Store, $420, with a preview of its demo store.

Your product sells in motion, and still photos don't show it. Motion brings animation and video onto the page, and its developer calls it mobile-first.

Motion is $420 from Archetype Themes too, with three presets. Its developer lists quick add to cart from the collection page. Animations can slow a page, Shopify's Help Center warns, so compare your store speed before and after you switch them on.

Best for: brands that sell on video and movement.

10. Horizon: the free pick

Horizon on the Shopify Theme Store, free, with a preview of its demo store.

You don't want to spend $400 before the store has sold anything. Horizon is Shopify's own free theme.

Horizon lets you place blocks inside other blocks in the theme editor. Its feature list includes a back-in-stock alert and pre-order. The Theme Store's Horizon collection lists nine free sister themes. More in the Horizon theme review.

Best for: starting without paying.

Which Shopify themes are fastest?

Shopify's table of 27 October 2026 puts Taiga first, with 98.4% of its stores passing Google's speed checks. In Theme Vitals' September 2026 data, Essentials led on phones and Baseline on computers. Both sources count real store visits instead of lab tests, using Core Web Vitals, Google's three checks for loading, steadiness and response to taps.

Shopify's table counts the share of stores on each theme where at least 75% of visitors pass all three, over the week before 27 October 2026, phones and computers together. Theme Vitals, an independent site, runs the same test on Chrome's monthly record of real visits, counting phones and computers apart.

Motion93.3%78.2%89.4%
Horizon88.9%73.0%90.7%

Speed data: Shopify, 27 Oct 2026; Theme Vitals, September 2026.

On Shopify's table, the ten sit within five points, from 88.9% to 93.6%. Theme Vitals' phone count spreads wider, from 73.0% to 90.3%, and its median theme sits at 85.1%. The methods differ too: Shopify counts only each theme's latest three versions, Theme Vitals every site on it.

Baseline ($420) and Taiga ($500) cleared 95% on phones and on computers in Theme Vitals' count.

These counts describe stores already on each theme, not yours. Shopify's Help Center says apps, pictures, videos, carousels and a long stack of sections can each move your speed. Your own numbers sit under Online Store, then Themes, in the performance metric summary. It rates loading, response and steadiness Good, Moderate or Poor from the past 30 days of real visits. The Theme Store lists a theme only once it passes a lab speed test.

What does a $400 theme add over a free one?

On the Theme Store's feature lists, free Horizon and the nine paid themes share one core. All ten list a slide-out cart, quick buy, filtering and sorting, enhanced search, color swatches, a mega menu, product badges, promo banners and recommended products.

The money buys the look, three to five presets and extra sales sections. Every paid theme here lists product tabs, and most list image hotspots, trust badges, countdown timers and promo popups. It also buys the developer's support, but not custom changes: for those, Shopify points you to a Shopify Partner. On Shopify's own free themes, Shopify Support might help with some predefined changes, and stores on Basic or higher can use up to 60 minutes of free design help.

List what your current theme can't do, then shop for that.

How much does a Shopify theme cost, and what do you get?

The nine paid themes here cost $320 to $500, paid once. The Theme Store calls each purchase a lifetime license for your store. Updates stay free.

That license covers one store, so a second store pays again. Moving a theme means owning both stores under the same email and closing the old one for good. You then buy it again on the new store and ask Shopify Support to refund the first invoice, its Help Center says.

Paid theme sales are final, and the developer can't refund you. So try one first: "Try theme" on its Theme Store page adds a trial copy to your admin, and your changes stay when you buy.

Theme Store themes are sold only there. A copy sold elsewhere is unlicensed, gets no support or updates, and can get your account restricted.

What carries over when you switch or update a theme?

Switching keeps your products, collections, menus, pages and blog posts. Section settings, colors and fonts, wording and a developer's changes belong to each theme, so you redo those on the new one. On Wix, a site can't switch to another template once it's built, one of the differences in Shopify vs Wix. A move from another platform carries over less, and how to migrate to Shopify lists what you rebuild.

Speed can move too, so read your performance metric summary before the switch, and again once its 30 days cover only the new theme.

Updates keep what you changed in the theme editor. If a developer's changes don't carry over, Shopify shows "Theme added: code edits could not be included", and whoever made them copies them across. Basic, Grow and Advanced stores can hold up to 20 themes, and Plus stores up to 100.

Does Sledge work with these themes?

Yes, on all ten. Sledge is a Shopify app for search, filters, bundles and the cart drawer, and it knows 47 themes by name. On Horizon, Impulse, Impact and Enterprise, its search, filters and product cards take on the theme's colors, fonts and corners. On Prestige and Warehouse they do too, as a close match. Symmetry, Expanse, Motion and Be Yours run Sledge in its standard look, with its widgets placed where each theme's pages expect them. It never edits your theme files. See every supported theme.

What is the best Shopify theme?

It depends on the store. Prestige suits high-end brands, Impulse suits fashion stores that run frequent sales, Warehouse and Expanse suit big catalogs, Motion suits video-led brands and Be Yours suits beauty. Horizon is the free pick. All ten list a slide-out cart, quick buy, filters and search on the Shopify Theme Store.

Are Shopify themes a one-time purchase?

Yes. A paid theme from the Shopify Theme Store is one payment, and the Theme Store calls it a lifetime license for your store. Updates are free. The license covers one store, and Shopify treats the sale as final, so try the theme in your own admin before you buy it.

What is the fastest Shopify theme?

It depends on who measures. Theme Vitals, which reads real visits recorded by Chrome, had Essentials first on phones and Baseline first on computers in September 2026. Shopify's own table of 27 October 2026 puts Taiga first. For the ten here, Shopify's share of stores passing runs from 88.9% to 93.6%.

What are the most popular Shopify themes?

Dawn, then Prestige, Horizon and Impulse, by Theme Vitals' estimate of each theme's share of sites on computers in Chrome's September 2026 data. Symmetry, Impact, Warehouse and Enterprise are the next paid themes on that count. Popular means many stores picked it. It doesn't mean it fits yours.

Can I use one paid theme on two stores?

Not with one purchase. Shopify licenses a theme to the store that bought it, so a second store needs its own. You can move a theme only when you own both stores under the same email and close the old one for good. You then buy it again on the new store, and Shopify Support can refund the original invoice.
