What are product add-ons?

Add-ons are small extras attached to a main product: gift wrap with a leather bag, batteries with a toy, a belt with the trousers. They appear on the product page as a toggle or a small card, so one tap puts both the product and the extra in the cart.

How do add-ons work?

Say you sell a $120 leather tote. Under the add-to-cart button sit two toggles: gift wrap for $8, a leather care kit for $15. In a month of 100 tote orders, 30 shoppers take the wrap and 10 take the kit. That is $390 extra from two extras a shopper only had to switch on.

Keep the extra small beside the main price. An $8 yes is a reflex; a $40 yes is a decision.

On Shopify stores

On a Shopify store, add-ons sit next to the add-to-cart button, and the extra usually lands in the cart as its own line item so inventory and totals stay clean. They work because the decision is already made: the shopper chose the tote, and the wrap is a footnote, not a second purchase to weigh.
