How to add bundles and quantity breaks to the Dawn theme

Dawn has no bundle section in the theme editor. You can list a bundle as its own product, install Shopify's free Bundles app for fixed sets, or add Sledge for nine offer types, quantity breaks included, shown on product pages, in collections, in search results, and in the cart. All three routes below.

A bundle sells more units in the same order: two items priced as a pair, "buy 2, save 10%" tiers, a build-your-own box. Dawn renders products beautifully and offers none of this on its own. Each route below, with its honest limits.

Option A: build a bundle as its own product

The no-app route: create a product that represents the set.

  1. In Shopify admin, create a new product. Call it "The Weekend Set".
  2. Photograph the items together, write the description, set one price below the sum of the parts.
  3. Track its inventory by hand, since Shopify treats the set as one more product.
  4. Publish it to the collections where shoppers would look for it.

For one signature set that rarely changes, this works, and plenty of stores have run exactly this for years. The cost is zero and the product page is pure Dawn.

Where it stops: stock is the trap. Sell the set and the parts never decrement; sell the last hoodie on its own and the set still looks in stock. One fixed combination per listing, so "pick any three tees" is off the table, and quantity breaks do not exist here. The offer lives only where the product sits, never in front of the shopper browsing the hoodie that belongs in it.

Option B: use Shopify's free Bundles app

Shopify ships its own Bundles app, free, and it fixes Option A's worst problem.

  1. Install Shopify Bundles from the Shopify App Store.
  2. Create a bundle and pick the products and variants that go in.
  3. Price the set, then publish. The bundle lists as its own product on your store.

The real win: inventory syncs. The bundle's stock tracks against its components, so selling the set counts against the parts, and selling the last part pauses the set. No overselling, no spreadsheet.

Where it stops: fixed bundles only, a set list of products at a set price. There is no quantity-break display, so "buy 2, save 10%" tiers never appear on the product page. And the bundle stays a product, not an offer: it never shows in search results or next to the products it contains, so shoppers find it only by walking past its listing.

Option C: add Sledge bundles tuned for Dawn

Sledge treats a bundle as an offer that travels, not a listing that waits. Nine types you can build today, no code, rendered in cards tuned for Dawn.

  1. Install Sledge from the Shopify App Store, start the 14-day free trial, and switch on the app embed.
  2. Create a bundle and pick a type: quantity breaks, build-your-own, free gift, BOGO, or any of the nine.
  3. Choose where the offer shows: product pages, collections, search results, the cart.
  4. Publish. Cards render Dawn-styled, and the discount syncs to a Shopify discount, so checkout charges exactly what the card promised.

Beyond Options A and B: quantity breaks live right on the product page, tiers a shopper can tap. The same offer can appear in search results and filtered collections, meeting shoppers mid-decision instead of waiting on a separate listing. And every card matches Dawn's, so the offer looks like merchandise, not an ad.

Not sure whether "buy 2, save 10%" beats a two-piece set on your store? Run both. Sledge A/B tests bundles, and you can preview any variant on any page before it goes live. Growth Intelligence goes one further: it suggests offers from your store's own data, then measures what each one earned against real sales.

Questions, answered

Does the Dawn theme support product bundles?

Not natively. Dawn has no bundle section or quantity-break display. Bundles arrive via a manually created combo product, Shopify's free Bundles app, or an app like Sledge that renders bundle offers in Dawn-styled cards.

Is Shopify's Bundles app free, and what does it cover?

Free, yes. It builds fixed bundles that list as products, with inventory synced to the components. It does not show quantity-break tiers on product pages, and it does not place offers in search results or collections.

Can I show "buy 2, save 10%" on a Dawn product page?

Not with Dawn or Shopify's native tools. Sledge renders quantity breaks as a tiered card on the product page, tuned to Dawn's styling, and the discount applies automatically at checkout.

Do Sledge bundle discounts apply at checkout?

Yes. An enabled Sledge bundle syncs its discount to a Shopify discount, so the price on the card carries through to checkout.

Bundles where shoppers decide.

Install free. Pick a bundle type, choose the pages it lives on, and watch it render like Dawn drew it. Built-in Growth Intelligence will even tell you which offer to try first.
